ChatGPT's new subscription costs less than $5, but it's not for everyone

OpenAI has begun updating its pricing page to include a new plan called ‘ChatGPT Go.’ It costs 399 INR (Indian Rupee) or roughly $4.55, but there’s a catch.

The GPT Go plan will be limited to certain regions, likely developing countries like India.

It’s unclear if OpenAI will expand the low-cost subscription to other regions, including the United States.

The ChatGPT web app warns that the Go plan is “Only available in certain regions” at ₹399 INR/month, with everything in Free. But it also offers expanded messaging and uploads.

GPT Go

Right now, the ChatGPT Free subscription easily maxes out its upload limit, but Go adds more limit.

It also has expanded image creation, limited deep research, longer memory and context, and extended advanced data analysis.

The Go plan is hidden behind a feature flag, but it should begin showing up in select regions in the coming days.

BleepingComputer understands that Google is also exploring a similar low-tier subscription for Gemini, but it’ll be limited to certain regions only, most likely India, which is price-sensitive.
