The second stage focuses on preparing everything needed before creating and processing the fake image. The workflow requests temporary upload credentials through an authenticated HTTP call.

Because commercial cloud services handle rendering, threat actors maintain operational obfuscation while achieving professional-grade results at virtually no cost.

The research revealed that a single operator can now orchestrate convincing, scalable scam campaigns that previously required months of planning and specialized team coordination.

Trend Micro telemetry from June to September 2025 documents the devastating real-world deployment of AI-enabled fraud tactics.

Romance impostor scams accounted for 346,206 monthly detections (77.27% of all scam incidents), with merchandise scams placing second at 73,635 monthly occurrences (16.43%).
