GitHub has announced the general availability of Claude Opus 4.5, Anthropic’s advanced AI model, across its Copilot platform.
This integration enhances AI capabilities for developers using GitHub’s code assistance tools.
The Claude Opus 4.5 model is now accessible to users with Copilot Enterprise, Copilot Business, Copilot Pro, and Copilot Pro+ subscriptions.
Developers can leverage this powerful model through GitHub Copilot Chat across multiple platforms, including github.com, GitHub Mobile, Visual Studio Code, Visual Studio, JetBrains IDEs, Xcode, and Eclipse.
The model is available through the chat model picker in agent, ask, and edit modes.
For organizations using Copilot Business or Copilot Enterprise, administrators must manually enable access to Claude Opus 4.5.
This requires opting in through the Copilot settings by activating the new Claude Opus 4.5 policy.
Once administrators allow this policy, all users within the organization will see the model option in the model picker across supported integrated development environments.
Individual plan subscribers can enable Claude Opus 4.5 independently by selecting it in the model picker within any supported IDE.
Users will receive a one-time confirmation prompt to activate the model for their account.
GitHub notes that users who do not immediately see the model option should check back later, as the rollout continues across all accounts.
The company encourages developers to explore the capabilities of Claude Opus 4.5 and share their experiences.
Developers interested in learning more about available models in Copilot can visit GitHub’s documentation on supported models.
The company has also invited users to join the GitHub Community discussions to provide feedback on their experience with the new model integration, helping shape future enhancements to the platform.
