Hexnode has expanded into Australia and New Zealand with the launch of Hexnode XDR, positioning the platform as a response to growing cyber-alert fatigue facing IT teams responsible for increasingly connected smart city environments.

Hexnode XDR is designed to help organisations cut through high alert volumes by unifying detection, investigation and response in a single platform. The launch comes as Australian organisations rank among the world’s most active in cyber-attack detection, driven by greater visibility across endpoints, networks and cloud services — but also by a surge in alerts that many teams struggle to triage effectively.

Recent research shows 97% of Australian organisations detected at least one incident involving attacker lateral movement in the past year, with security teams processing thousands of alerts daily. For councils, utilities, transport operators and other smart city stakeholders, this alert overload can delay response and increase operational risk.

Hexnode said the challenge is no longer detection, but turning alerts into timely, confident action. Its XDR platform focuses on reducing noise and providing clearer context so IT and security teams can prioritise what matters most.

At the core of Hexnode XDR is a unified dashboard that brings together endpoint status, alerts and vulnerabilities into a single view. Automated correlation analyses signals across endpoints to surface meaningful incidents, while contextualised alerts provide device, policy and impact insights to guide response. One-click remediation enables rapid containment actions such as process termination, file quarantine and device isolation, supported by a complete audit trail for investigation and compliance.

For smart cities, where IT teams often manage large numbers of distributed devices with limited resources, Hexnode said usability and automation were key design priorities. The platform is intended to support faster response without requiring specialist security operations centres.

Hexnode XDR integrates directly with Hexnode’s Unified Endpoint Management (UEM) platform, creating a combined environment for device management and security. This reduces tool sprawl and enables a closed feedback loop between detection and enforcement, allowing policies and remediation actions to be applied immediately across managed endpoints.

The company said the approach is well suited to smart city deployments spanning offices, public facilities, field devices and hybrid workforces, where centralised visibility and consistent controls are critical. Existing UEM customers can extend protection with minimal configuration, using familiar workflows.

Looking ahead, Hexnode plans to expand XDR capabilities to support additional operating systems, integrate with third-party UEM platforms and introduce AI-driven guidance through its Hexnode Genie intelligence layer. Future updates are expected to include broader endpoint coverage, automated remediation workflows and deeper application vulnerability insights.

Hexnode said its goal is to make advanced threat detection and response accessible not only to large enterprises, but also to smaller councils and operators managing the digital foundations of smart cities, helping them stay resilient as connectivity and cyber risk continue to grow.
