The infamous LockBit ransomware group asserts that it has successfully added two additional victims to its dark web portal. The targeted organizations in question are Planet Home Lending, LLC, and Community Dental, both located in the United States.
It’s worth noting that the cyberattack on Planet Home Lending and Community Dental has not been officially verified by authorities at this time.
Cyberattack on Planet Home Lending
Founded in 2007, Planet Home Lending, LLC is a privately held mortgage lender. The deadline for compliance with the group’s demands is set for November 26, 2023, at precisely 15:29:23 UTC.
The LockBit cybercriminals have issued a strong warning: if the organization doesn’t make the specified payment by the deadline, group will expose all available data on dark web platform.
Planet Home Lending prides itself on offering competitive products and services across multiple business channels. However, the cyberattack on Planet Home Lending threatens the security and confidentiality of the company’s sensitive information.
Community Dental Cyberattack: Sensitive Data at Stake
The second victim, Community Dental, is grappling with the potential exposure of highly sensitive information. Cybercriminals claim to possess the personal data of clients, accounting information, and medical data, including clients’ medical and health history.
In a chilling message, LockBit threatens to release all available data if the ransom is not paid promptly. The uploaded data is timestamped as of November 12, 2023, at 13:37 UTC, with subsequent updates on November 15, 2023, at 15:37 UTC.
The ransom demand after the Community Dental Cyberattack stands at a staggering sum, and the cybercriminals have implemented a countdown timer, extending the deadline for compliance by 24 hours with each passing moment.
The message further warns that if the ransom is not paid, the LockBit group reserves the right to destroy all the information they possess, making data recovery impossible.
The Cyber Express Team has contacted the officials of the organization to authenticate the claim. However, as of now, we are still awaiting a response from their end. It is noteworthy that despite the alleged cyberattacks on Planet Home Lending and Community Dental, the official websites of both organizations remain fully functional.
Urgent Call to Action
As the countdown to the ransom deadline ticks away, the affected organizations face a critical decision that could have far-reaching implications for the security and privacy of their clients and stakeholders.
The LockBit ransomware incident highlights the evolving nature of cyber threats and the pressing need for organizations to fortify their digital defenses in an increasingly interconnected world.
