Today’s consumer is more aware of how their data is protected than ever, with 62% of people lacking confidence in their data security with retailers. For many consumers, how well a retailer protects their sensitive information directly impacts their willingness to continue business with them. In the US alone, 83% of consumers will stop doing business with a company for several months after a breach. In the competitive holiday market, a failure to adequately protect data can significantly impact sales, pushing customers to competitors.
