Eagers Automotive says IT outage stems from cyber incident – Security

Eagers Automotive, which runs car dealerships nationwide, is trying to ascertain the extent of a “cyber incident” it says is impacting IT systems in “some” locations.

The ASX-listed company entered a trading halt earlier in the week [pdf], saying only that it was needed to manage “continuous disclosure obligations in relation to a cyber incident”.

Eagers yesterday provided a bit more information on the incident it is dealing with, saying that an “outage is currently impacting our IT systems in some operating locations across Australia and New Zealand”.

“The full extent of the cyber incident cannot yet be ascertained,” it said in an updated ASX filing. [pdf]

“External experts have been appointed to support our response and an urgent investigation is underway.

“The company has notified the Australian Cyber Security Centre and the New Zealand National Cyber Security Centre.”

The company’s trading halt is expected to lift today; iTnews will update this story if it reveals more on the cause or extent of the incident.
