Fulfilment Matters, Unilever, Samsung Data Breach

“The Fulfilment Matters team has the capability to reliably deliver promotional fulfilment for leading brands including Unilever, Coke, Samsung, Organix and Birds Eye,” said a company description on a B2B website.

“In addition, we offer e-commerce order fulfilment services for small businesses and emerging online brands,” it added.

The United Kingdom has the most advanced e-commerce market in Europe. Statista estimates that the country had nearly 60 million e-commerce users in 2022, leaving only a minority without e-commerce.

Due to this, e-commerce has unquestionably become the norm for shoppers in the UK, and subsequently the players have become lucrative targets. Attacks on the sector have always been popping up on cybersecurity news.

Fulfilment Matters and the larger market

The UK’s retail market is the most lucrative in Europe and has seen impressive growth in online sales. In 2021, nearly 30 percent of retail sales were conducted online – double the amount from 2011.

The coronavirus pandemic saw a phenomenal 47 percent increase in internet retail sales in 2020, but even after this surge, it’s expected that these figures will only continue to climb in the foreseeable future for all sectors, according to the Centre for Retail Research.

According to the numbers curated in the first half of 2022, UK businesses are behind only those in the US and Canada when it comes to ransomware attack. Contrary to public perception, small businesses face higher risk.

Conti and LockBit were the most prolific ransomware gangs in the UK in 2022, claiming 22.2% and 11.5% of the total recorded attacks, respectively. With the disintegration of Conti, LockBit has more or less taken the top slot.
