Starting September 2025, administrators will gain access to silent, 60-second test call functionality designed to proactively monitor network performance and identify potential issues before they impact users.

The new silent test call feature represents a major advancement in Microsoft Teams’ administrative toolkit, allowing IT departments to conduct synthetic call simulations targeted at specific subnets.

The feature operates entirely in the background, running scheduled tests that simulate real Teams calls without any user awareness or disruption.

According to Microsoft’s official announcement, these tests will run for exactly 60 seconds and are specifically designed to target designated subnets within an organization’s network infrastructure. 

The feature requires Teams Premium licenses and will be available exclusively on Windows and Mac desktop clients, providing comprehensive coverage for the most commonly used platforms in enterprise environments.

Microsoft has updated the rollout timeline, with Targeted Release beginning in early September 2025 and completing by mid-September. 

General Availability for worldwide deployment will commence in mid-September 2025, with full rollout expected by late September. 

The feature will be automatically enabled with no administrative action required, though organizations may want to review their current configurations to assess potential impacts.

A key requirement for the functionality is that tests will only execute when devices are idle, specifically when users are not engaged in active Teams calls. 

This intelligent scheduling ensures that the monitoring process never interferes with actual business communications or productivity.

Users will experience no notifications, sounds, or visible changes during test execution, maintaining a completely transparent monitoring environment.
