Mid America Bank Cyberattack Claimed By Turk Hack Team

Notorious Turk Hack Team hacker group has claimed responsibility for launching the Mid America Bank cyberattack.

This claim was made on the group’s dark web channel, Türk Hack Team. The hacker group allegedly posted evidence of their operation, asserting that Mid-America Bank had fallen victim to their cyber assault.

According to the threat actor, the website for Mid America Bank displayed a distressing message, indicating a “502 Bad Gateway” error, signaling the success of the cyberattack.

However, upon checking, we found out that the website was operational and didn’t have any signs of the Mid America Bank cyberattack, as claimed by the Turk Hack Team hacker group.

The Turk Hack Team’s claims are rooted in a deep-seated resentment towards America’s alleged financial and weapon support to YPG/PKK terrorist organizations. This animosity has been further fueled by provocative actions against Turkey, among other grievances.

The PKK, deemed a terrorist organization by multiple nations including the United States, Canada, and Australia, stands at the heart of this conflict.

“American banks and critical infrastructures will be heavily hit due to America’s financial and weapon support to YPG/PKK terrorist organizations, its provocative actions against Turkey, and many other reasons”, reads the threat actor’s post.

The Cyber Express, in an attempt to learn more about this alleged Mid America Bank cyberattack, reached out to the organization for an official statement. However, at the time of writing, no official response have been received.

The Notorious Journey of PKK

The PKK, founded in 1984, has been responsible for over 40,000 casualties due to its acts of terrorism. With an ideology steeped in revolutionary Marxism-Leninism and separatist ethnonationalism, the group aims to stifle diversity in Turkey, hindering the integration and participation of citizens of Kurdish origin.

The targets of PKK span police, military, economic, and social assets, as well as civilians, diplomatic facilities, and consular offices.

The PKK’s reign of terror has taken a toll on Turkey’s tourism, economic infrastructure, educational institutions, and public enterprises, particularly in the southeast region.

Employing a wide range of tactics, from infrastructure attacks to kidnappings and even poisoning water supplies, the group leaves a trail of devastation in its wake.

Founded in 2002 by Arsenik, Turk Hack Team hacker group stands as one of Turkey’s oldest cyber security and hacking forums. Under the leadership of ZoRRoKiN, they gained notoriety by hacking a subdomain of Microsoft’s MSN web portal.

The group, rooted in Ataturkist and nationalist principles, identifies as the underground guardians of the Internet.
