In recent times, data storage companies have introduced appliances capable of detecting ransomware threats in advance. Now, NetApp is stepping up with its Secure Data Storage Infrastructure, which integrates AI to proactively identify real-time cyber threats, providing customers with a highly resilient storage solution.
NetApp’s ONTAP Autonomous Ransomware Protection, powered by artificial intelligence, claims to achieve 99% accuracy in safeguarding against file-encrypting malware attacks. A key feature of this solution is its ability to take snapshots of data before any unusual activity occurs, facilitating rapid recovery from attacks.
Leveraging machine learning tools, this system effectively eliminates 99% of false alarms automatically. Furthermore, these updates will be made available to customers with the launch of new models, ensuring high standards of data protection.
NetApp has publicly announced that its solution has received an AAA rating from SE Labs for its ARP/AI-powered capabilities in detecting malware with minimal to zero false positives.
For those unfamiliar, NetApp already offers the BlueXP Ransomware Protection service, which has recently been integrated with Splunk SIEM to enhance threat response within security operations. This system also automatically alerts security teams, providing them with the necessary time to identify and neutralize malicious activities promptly.
Additionally, this protection will be available for NetApp’s ASA A-Series all-flash storage hardware, which combines flash and HDD drives to meet both hot and cold data storage needs.
