The challenge involves crafting emails containing hidden prompts that, when processed by the LLM, trigger specific actions or tool calls. The key objective is to bypass various prompt injection defenses while ensuring the system retrieves and processes the malicious email.
The competition features 40 unique levels, each combining different retrieval configurations, LLM models (including GPT-4o mini and Phi-3-medium-128k-instruct), and state-of-the-art defense mechanisms. These defenses include Spotlighting, PromptShield, LLM-as-a-judge, and TaskTracker, as well as combinations of multiple defenses.
Prompt injection attacks, a relatively new threat in the AI landscape, involve crafting specific inputs to manipulate LLMs into performing unintended actions. These attacks can lead to unauthorized command execution, sensitive information leakage, or output manipulation, posing significant risks to AI-powered systems.
