Ransomware attack on NHS in May 2024
A ransomware attack that took place on a technology service provider has left some major hospitals in London with disrupted computer networks leaving medical staff inaccessible to pathology and other medical related IT services.
Details are in that a cyber attack on a company called ‘Synnovis’ has left many NHS hospitals left without access to healthcare services like blood tests and imaging.
Impacted hospitals includes Harefield Hospitals, King George Hospital NHS Foundation Trust, Royal Brompton, to name a few.
NHS England in association with NCSC and the Department of Health and Social Care are investigating the incident to the core and are confident to recover the encrypted data from the backups. The ransomware variant that hit the NHS is yet to be revealed and reports are in that the perpetrators gained hold of the databases in May 2024, only to be detected in the early hours of June 3,2024.

All these days, tech companies are making the online users believe that the data generated and stored on their servers remains secure in their server farms, forever. But the latest incident that was brought to light by 404 Media suggests something else about these firms.
In a document that was revealed to the world a few hours ago by 404, states that Google experienced many minor security incidents between 2013 and 2019 that includes secret data collection made by various Google online services and mistakes committed by staff n contractors and vulnerabilities in products and 3rd party vendors leading to fraudulent access of data by hackers.
The doc emphasizes on the fact that the internet juggernaut collected audio files of children speaking via Alexa and kept record of user’s deleted watch history and YouTube and transcribed license plates captured on its Street View Images.
The Alphabet Inc’s subsidiary quickly reacted to the leak and issued a statement that in the past 6 years, the business implemented many users related security and protections and the latest revelation appears to be baseless and needs to be clinically investigated.
