Sav-Rx, a healthcare company based in Fremont, Nebraska, has disclosed a major data breach affecting over 2.8 million individuals, including 5,935 Maine residents.
The company, which operates under the legal name A&A Services, discovered the breach on April 30, 2024.
Hackers Gain Access to Sensitive Personal Information
According to the office of the Maine Attorney General reports, a partner at the law firm Quarles & Brady LLP, the breach occurred due to an external system breach, also known as hacking.
The hackers acquired sensitive personal information, including the affected individuals’ names and Social Security numbers.
Sav-Rx has taken steps to notify the affected consumers, sending out written notifications on May 24, 2024.

The company has also informed the major consumer reporting agencies, as the number of affected Maine residents exceeds 1,000.
Sav-Rx is offering identity theft protection services to those impacted by the breach to mitigate potential harm.
Authorities and cybersecurity experts are currently investigating the breach to determine its full scope and identify the perpetrators behind the attack.
Sav-Rx has stated that it is cooperating fully with the investigation and is committed to implementing enhanced security measures to prevent future breaches.

This includes monitoring credit reports, placing fraud alerts, and considering a credit freeze to prevent unauthorized access to their accounts.
