TasWater restructures tech delivery amid transformation program – Cloud – Hardware – Networking – Software

TasWater is to undergo a major technology transformation program with a focus on replacing and uplifting its core IT system.

Following a leadership “realignment”, the Tasmanian water and sewerage utility is looking to hire a technology leader to roll out its “digital and technology strategic roadmap”.

“We have realigned and refocused an existing role to create the position of chief digital officer at TasWater,” chief financial officer Kane Ingham told iTnews.

“This realignment reflects the importance of digital solutions playing a key role in enabling TasWater’s new strategy.

“The chief digital officer will be responsible for driving our digital change program, upgrading and replacing core systems, leveraging new technologies and helping to drive a holistic innovation program across TasWater.”

The CDO will oversee TasWater’s 65-people digital and technology team, which reports into the CFO.

Ingham added that the CDO will be responsible for “ensuring that the digital change program supports the drive to deliver to TasWater’s strategic aspirations”.

According to a job advertisement, the CDO will also “lead the development and delivery of the strategic priorities, ensuring the IT and Digital strategies are future-oriented, customer-centric, and aligned with the organisation’s strategic and operational objectives”.

TasWater also forms part of a consortium along with TasPorts, TasNetworks, TasIrrigation and the Bell Bay Advanced Manufacturing Zone to deliver a new hydrogen hub.

The Tasmanian government commenced its Bell Bay green hydrogen hub at the start of this year by officially securing $70 million in funding from the federal government.
