Cybercriminal group ‘NDT SEC’ has released a list of nine banks on the dark web, claiming them as their potential targets. The targeted banks, located in Thailand, are reportedly part of an ongoing campaign called OpThailand.
The Thailand banks cyber attack claim was made on the Telegram page of the NDT SEC hackers. Not much is known about the group as it is speculated to be a new. As of now, the banks have not confirmed the cyber attacks.
Details about the Thailand banks cyber attack
The following banks were named in the cyber attacks on Thai banks were claimed by the NDT SEC group:
- Krungthai Bank cyber attack
- Kasikorn Bank cyber attack
- Siam Commercial Bank cyber attack
- Government Savings Bank cyber attack
- Bank of Ayudhya cyber attack
- Thai Military Bank cyber attack
- Land & Houses Bank cyber attack
- United Overseas Bank cyber attack
- Cimb Bank cyber attack
The websites of all the above-named banks in Thailand were accessible at the time of writing. The Cyber Express reached out to the listed organizations to confirm the alleged Thailand Banks’ cyber attack. However, we are yet to receive confirmation.
The threat actor has launched the cyber attacks on banks in Thailand under the #OpThailand campaign, suggesting that either its motives are rooted in a cause, or they are piggybacking on earlier campaigns that used the hashtag.
Operation Thailand: Cyber attacks on Thailand
Following the activities of the hacker collective, it was noted that the group has claimed to launch several attacks on based in Thailand on their Telegram channel.
Earlier, the NDT SEC claimed to possess 1GB of data from the Mega Planet cyber attack. This included details about the users, emails, passwords, and admin login credentials. They also claimed to have project details from the Mega Planet cyber attack.
Unlike the Thai bank cyber attacks including the Krungthai bank cyber attack, and Kasikorn bank cyber attacks, this attack was posted with details of the cybercrime.
The website of Mega Planet was inaccessible at the time of writing displaying the message of the website being “under construction”.
This alleged security breach was also part of OpThailand as put on the Telegram post. And the hacker group Anonymous Cambodia was named in the message.
