Vice Society Claims Another Victim

CommScope, a globally renowned provider of advanced network solutions, has allegedly fallen prey to the notorious Vice Society ransomware group. While the Commscope data breach is yet to be officially confirmed, the threat actor has claimed to share the sample data on its data leak website.

CommScope has been at the forefront of revolutionizing the connectivity and productivity of various industries for many years.

Their innovative designs and cutting-edge technology have allowed businesses to stay ahead of their competition.

However, the Vice Society ransomware group’s infiltration into their network, if true, could cause major setbacks for the company.

CommScope data breach: Vice Society ransomware group running wild

The Vice Society ransomware group is infamous for its advanced techniques and sophisticated tactics that enable them to breach even the most secure networks.

They utilize encryption to lock victims’ files and demand a hefty ransom for the decryption key.  In some instances, they also resort to threatening to leak sensitive information if their demands are not met.

While The Cyber Express team has reached out to CommScope for a response to the cyberattack claim, there has been no official statement from the company at the time of writing.

CommScope, headquartered in Hickory, North Carolina, is a leading provider of network infrastructure solutions in the United States.

With more than 30,000 professionals, the company is known for its innovative designs and cutting-edge manufacturing processes.

Vice Society ransomware group claims multiple attacks

In 2023, along with the CommScope data breach, the Vice Society Ransomware Gang claimed multiple attacks on multiple companies in the US and other countries in North America.

Between 2022-2023, the threat actor claimed 4 new victims, including Kujalleq Municipality, Jammal Trust Bank, IKEA Morocco and Kuwait, and Publicar.

One of the most recent cyberattacks claimed by the threat actor is the attack on the global molten metal engineering company Vesuvius. The London Stock Exchange-listed company disclosed the cybersecurity incident on February 6.

All these cyberattacks and the latest CommScope data breach just put the threat actor in a different league.

While most companies use some data protection services, the Vice Society seems to have infiltrated these companies within a few months.

Companies must prioritize cybersecurity measures and stay vigilant against potential breaches. The stakes are high, and any lapse in security could have devastating consequences.
