Lake Macquarie City Council is looking to appoint a permanent chief information officer to oversee its new technology strategy.
The NSW-based council’s IT delivery is being currently led by Joshua Crooks, who has held the acting role since March 2024.
However, the council said it is now hiring for a permanent position to lead a 50-person technology team.
In a statement to iTnews, the council said it is finalising the next iteration of its digital strategy for 2025 to 2029.
“The CIO will play an instrumental role in this plan,” a spokesperson said.
“We’re working towards a digital future that delivers accessible, inclusive, secure and integrated digital services.
“The strategy will ensure our technology is fit-for-purpose, efficient and future-ready, helping our workforce deliver services to the community.”
According to a job advertisement, the new CIO will be tasked with driving the “overall efficiency of [its] operations”, adding that the council is a “large” and “complex” organisation.
The role covers domains including IT services, digital innovation and cyber security, according to the ad.
