The upgrade to Windows 11 is a once-in-a-technology-generation opportunity to modernise a laptop fleet and take advantage of new technologies.
Angela Walker, the General Manager for Dynabook ANZ, says PC fleet managers need to take a longer-term view of the technology they choose and not be purely focussed on the up-front costs.
“Since our origin as a division of Toshiba when we made the world’s first commercial laptop computer, Dynabook has always focussed on making computers that are grounded in what our users value most with thoughtful design decisions behind every component. From our in-house developed proprietary BIOS through to sourcing the best components we are laser focussed on ensuring our customers have the best hardware for their specific use.”
While a standard model laptop may suit most users, there are some special cases where a more powerful CPU and NPU is needed, or there’s a need for more local storage or increased memory. Dynabook ANZ has been at the forefront of mobile computing innovation for almost 40 years evolving and adapting to meet the dynamic needs of its customers.
“Our close relationship with suppliers enables us to build highly optimised computers,” explains Walker. “We only offer Intel processors, and we specialise in thermal heat management which allows us to run the fastest processors whilst maintaining outstanding battery life. Everything from power management to miniaturisation is carefully managed to create a best-of-breed experience.”
The upgrade to Windows 11 gives corporate, education, business and government customers a unique opportunity to refresh their laptop fleet. Walker says Dynabook is committed to producing devices that deliver incredible performance and unwavering reliability.
While performance is important, reliability is critical, and not all laptops are equally ready for the real world. Organisations need machines that will meet technical needs for three or more years but also physically handle that time.
“Our hardware has been tested to MilSpec for durability and our Highly Accelerated Life Testing mimics three years of continual use and extreme conditions. There’s no point having the fastest processor and most memory if the device breaks down. Organisations demand reliability and resilience in even the most challenging environments. Ask your vendors about failure and return rates before committing to a purchase,” Walker says.
Windows 10 support ends in October 2025 so organisations must start planning their approach. This starts with assessing which devices can run Windows 11 today and which must be replaced.
“Our laptops are designed to provide not just a seamless transition to Windows 11 but also a secure and productive computing environment. By choosing Dynabook, customers benefit from our unparalleled knowledge in mobile computing, ensuring they receive reliable hardware solutions that enhance their operational efficiency,” explains Walker.
For devices that can run Windows 11 there is a further choice: will it run Windows 11 and enjoy the full range of new features including support for Copilot and other AI tools? If not, decisions need to be made about whether those devices should also be replaced or redeployed.
Dynabook has been making laptops since 1985 and understands what devices are best suited for different users and can help make the transition as smooth and cost effective as possible. They can build laptops to meet specific needs rather than forcing organisations to choose off-the-shelf configurations. For example, this can include processor, storage, memory, screen size and display resolutions for particular use-cases.
The world of laptop computing is at a critical junction. AI is emerging as a pivotal technology while Microsoft is making a generational shift with the move to Windows 11. Organisations must prepare for these transitions.
By choosing the right hardware, from a reputable vendor that supports its channel partners and customers, organisations can maximise the chance of a successful transition that will deliver a return on investment for years to come.
