Vic Gov Services snares Vicinity Centres’ security leader – Training & Development

Victoria’s Department of Government Services (DGS) has secured the services of Vicinity Centres’ general manager for cyber and information security Christie Lim.

It’s understood Lim will join the department as director of cyber operations in early 2025.

In her new role, Lim will help carry out the government’s five-year cyber security directive.

A Vicinity spokesperson told iTnews Lim oversaw the establishment and maintenance of the shopping centre operator’s “enterprise cyber vision, strategy, and program to ensure data and privacy protection.”

A replacement for Lim is now being sought.

They will be responsible for “developing and implementing a comprehensive cyber security strategy, managing data governance frameworks, acting as the privacy officer, and leading the cyber and information security team,” Vicinity’s spokesperson said.

“The general manager for cyber and information security is a key member of the technology leadership team and cyber will continue to be an integral enabler of the broader technology strategy.”

The Vicinity Centres role reports to group head of technology Munro Farmer, who joined in October.

Lim spent over two-and-a-half years at Vicinity Centres. She has also held executive security roles at Officeworks, MYOB and Australia Post, among other organisations.
