Bangladeshi Hackers Deface India’s Zee Media Website for Mocking Floods


Bangladeshi hackers “SYSTEMADMINBD” defaced Zee Media’s website, accusing them of mocking the situation in Bangladesh amid severe flooding. The hack follows the resignation of Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina amidst violent protests. SYSTEMADMINBD has been active in cyber-attacks since 2023.

A group of Bangladeshi hackers, operating under the alias “SYSTEMADMINBD,” has hacked and defaced the official website of Zee Media Corporation Limited. The hackers accused the media giant of ‘making fun of the situation in Bangladesh,’ referring to the ongoing floods caused by heavy rainfall in India.

For your information, Zee Media Corporation Limited is one of the largest News Networks in India with 14 news channels in 7 different languages. According to the Hackread.com research team, the targeted website (zeemedia.in) was defaced earlier today, August 21, 2024. The homepage displayed a screenshot of a ZEE TV Bangla news article with a headline that, when translated, read: India left the water! Bangladesh is floating.

The article also included potentially mocking phrases like Due to the flood, the authorities have opened the dam of the Dambur hydroelectric project. And that’s why Bangladesh is going to float.”

“Webserver seized by Systemadminbd – The Zee Media site was hacked because they made fun of the situation in Bangladesh. If they continue with their dirty behaviour, we will take over and destroy the news channel.”

Who Are the SYSTEMADMINBD Hackers?

SYSTEMADMINBD is a hacktivist group that has been active since April 2023. The group is involved in various cyber activities, including website defacement, data breaches, and hacktivism. Their previous targets include government websites in both Bangladesh and India, as well as business organizations in Israel and Europe.

The defacement of a major media outlet like Zee Media Corporation Limited marks a significant escalation in their activities, signalling the group’s readiness to exploit current events for their agenda.
