The Better Business Bureau reports that cybercrime is a big problem for small businesses, and it’s only getting worse. 68 percent of global organizations have experienced at least one cyberattack, and for 2024, the cost of cybercrime is forecasted to reach $9.5 trillion annually, according to Cybersecurity Ventures, with small businesses being a popular target.
Some of the trending cybersecurity threats that experts say to be aware of in 2024 include: Business email attacks; Malware and ransomware threats; Crypto scams and “pig butchering”; Cybercrime cash-out processes with cryptocurrencies; and Crime as-a-service.
The good news? You can take five measures right now to protect your small business: Train all of your employees in cybersecurity; Implement role-based access control (RBAC); Initiate automated remote backup and data recovery; Turn on multi-factor authentication (MFA); and secure WiFi networks.
