Check Point Software Technologies has announced a new Western Australia data residency instance for its Check Point Workplace Security SASE, adding a Perth point of presence (PoP) to its existing regional footprint in Sydney, Melbourne and Auckland.
The company said the Perth instance is intended to support enterprise and government organisations in Western Australia seeking locally hosted security services, including meeting data sovereignty and compliance requirements. Check Point cited Australian regulatory and policy drivers including the Security of Critical Infrastructure (SOCI) Act, the Privacy Act, the My Health Records Act, APRA CPS 234 and the ASD Essential Eight.
According to the company, the Perth Workplace Security SASE PoP includes redundancy and autoscaling, with high-availability clusters and multiple network paths designed to avoid a single point of failure. It said the service provides threat prevention against malware and phishing, visibility and control over cloud applications, and a centralised management interface for policy, monitoring and reporting.
Each PoP enforces Zero Trust Network Access (ZTNA) policies, Check Point said, restricting access to authorised users and devices. The company also said users connect to the nearest PoP and are routed across its private backbone, which dynamically selects paths based on real-time network conditions.
“We are deeply committed to helping all organisations to secure, simplify and transform their operations while providing the resilient infrastructure organisations need to strengthen their cyber security posture and maximise the benefits of their AI transformation,” said David Caspari, Managing Director ANZ Check Point Software Technologies. “The local Workplace Security SASE PoP here in Perth reinforces our prevention-first approach and helps Western Australian enterprises leverage trusted AI-powered security built to Australian standards eliminating the need for backhauling traffic to distant data centres, ensuring faster access to critical applications and services. With the ability to dynamically monitor and optimise network performance, we look forward to partnering with enterprises in the west through our new instance to further reinforce consistent, high-quality connectivity.”
Check Point said the Western Australia instance is supported by more than 80 global interconnected PoPs.
The company also referenced an earlier announcement that it had completed an Australian Government Information Security Registered Assessors Program (IRAP) assessment report for its Check Point Cloud Infinity products at the PROTECTED classification level.
