Finder readies for GenAI adoption after cloud move – Cloud – Software

Comparison service Finder has laid the groundwork for “rapid” generative AI adoption following its migration to Google Cloud in January.

The comparison website now intends to use Google Cloud’s Vertex AI as part of its strategy to make GenAI “front and centre” of its user experience.

Finder said in a statement that its intent is to make its site more “conversational”.

“Generative AI is front and centre in how we aim to help people make even better financial decisions by matching comparisons more accurately with their personal situations, requirements and constraints,” Finder CTO Joe Waller said.

ITnews contacted Finder for additional comment on how GenAI will be used.

Finder said the migration to Google Cloud had enabled it to reduce platform bottlenecks by distributing workload responsibility from one small IT department to 12 different teams.

It also reduced operating costs through greater visibility into its cloud spend, which enabled it to “eliminate redundant services”.

“Just like we encourage consumers to do with their finances, we ran a top-to-bottom appraisal of our digital infrastructure and identified numerous areas where greater transparency over costs and usage could help us build a leaner, more future-ready organisation,” Waller added.
