La Trobe University seeks new CISO – Security

La Trobe University is on the hunt for a new CISO following the recent departure of Andrew Morgan.

La Trobe University.

La Trobe previously hired Morgan as its first CISO in October 2021, where he led the implementation of “an enterprise-level security program from the ground up in an extremely complex and dispersed environment”.

According to his LinkedIn, Morgan left the Melbourne-based university in February and is now looking for a new senior security role.

“I’m in the market and actively looking around for the next chapter in my journey of building a security program that is designed to protect the people, assets, and reputation of the business by building a program that is driven by culture, informed by risk and delivered through people, process, and technology,” Morgan wrote on the social networking site.

La Trobe University has since advertised for a CISO to “develop and implement its cyber security strategy and roadmap”.

A spokesperson for the university declined to comment on the personnel change.

Leading the Office of the CISO and the Digital Records team, the new CISO will report to La Trobe CIO Shainal Kavar.

According to a job advertisement, the CISO will be tasked with leading the delivery of cyber security projects and initiatives, including compliance with the Defence Industry Security Program and SOCI Act requirements.

They will also have to co-ordinate cyber security controls, security operations centre (SOC) and incident response, alongside liaising with internal and external parties.
