Luminary Cryptographers Reminisce About The First RSA Conference– Listen to the Cybercrime Magazine Podcast RSA Conference History playlist

Sausalito, Calif. – Apr. 6, 2024

Two recent guests on the Cybercrime Magazine Podcast are industry luminaries who were at the first-ever RSA Conference in 1991.

Martin Hellman is best known for his invention, with Whitfield Diffie and Ralph Merkle, of public key cryptography. Dr. Taher Elgamal, an Egyptian cryptographer, is recognized in the industry as the “father” of SSL.

The two men have known each other since before the first RSA Conference and they’ve remained friends ever since. Hellman’s daughter worked for one of Elgamal’s security startups in the early 1990s.

Next up is another luminary cryptographer, Bruce Schneier, who was also at the first RSA Conference and holds the distinction of being the event’s first exhibitor.

Listeners can find the History of RSA Conference playlist on our podcast with these and other interviews, including one with Jim Bidzos, creator of the RSA Conference.

Speaking of the RSA Conference, this year’s biggie is at the Moscone Center in San Francisco from May 6-9. REGISTER here if you haven’t already!
