Massive Heroku outage impacts web platforms worldwide

Heroku is suffering a widespread outage that has lasted over six hours, preventing developers from logging into the platform and breaking website functionality.

Heroku is a platform-as-a-service (PaaS) owned by Salesforce that allows developers to deploy applications to the cloud without managing infrastructure.

The outage began early Tuesday morning, with users reporting that Heroku apps no longer worked. Furthermore, the outage prevents developers from logging into the Heroku dashboard and utilizing the CLI tools.

Heroku acknowledged the incident on its status page, stating, “Beginning at 06:03 UTC, Heroku is having intermittent outages which are currently being investigated.”

The outage impacts a wide range of services from numerous companies and sites, such as SolarWinds, which cannot ingest logs due to the outage.

“We are observing an incident with log delivery from Heroku to SolarWinds Observability SaaS due to an ongoing Heroku incident,” reads SolarWinds status page.

Websites that utilize Heroku apps for various functionality are also impacted by the outage, with portions of their platform no longer working correctly.
