Perrin wrote in a LinkedIn post that his replacement is currently being sought.

“Seriously people, this is the best digital job in northern Australia,” Perrin wrote.

“Yes, it’s my job and I will be providing a smooth transition for the right digital leadership rockstar who wants to make a real difference in the amazing Northern Territory.”

Although the role is located in Darwin, Perrin’s replacement will act on strategic digital opportunities, particularly in remote areas of the territory, and lead digital capability and strategy across government, according to the job posting.

The role requires a candidate to “confidently represent the territory at national forums and committees to drive and deliver digital initiatives and government priorities.”

Perrin will continue in his role to ensure a smooth handover, and plans to official step away once the transition is complete.

Perrin first stepped into the role back in late 2019 and has overseen many projects including fast-tracking the government’s digital transformation.

His experience includes advisory roles for analyst firms IBRS and Gartner, but he has a strong history of working across government departments including time spent as permanent secretary department of communications and information technology in Fiji.

Across his career he has also held various consultancy, project management and C-suite roles across numerous industries, including the Australian Taxation Office and CSIRO.
