Nuix launches agentic AI capability in Nuix Neo with audit trail

Nuix has launched the Nuix Neo AI Agent, a new capability aimed at helping investigators, legal teams, auditors, regulators and law enforcement agencies analyse large volumes of unstructured data using natural-language queries.

The company said the AI agent links each answer back to source material and records the steps taken to reach a result, allowing users to review and export how findings were produced.

The release positions the capability for “high-stakes investigations and compliance environments”, where organisations may need to explain outcomes to courts, boards and regulators, and where AI transparency and traceability are central concerns.

According to Nuix, the AI agent is built on the Nuix Neo Gen AI Framework and can sift through documents and images, identify connections between people, accounts, communications and transactions, and reduce manual review time. Administrators can also cap spend, track usage, and set guardrails on prompts and responses, the company said.

“For more than two decades, organisations have trusted Nuix with their high-stakes matters. Agentic AI should raise that bar, so we built the Nuix Neo AI Agent to show its work. Trace every answer to its source. Review every step. Rely on forensic-grade data processed by the Nuix Neo platform,” said John Ruthven, CEO, Nuix.

Nuix said the AI agent draws on more than 20 tools in the Nuix Neo platform and can operate across entire case inventories with role-based access controls. It also integrates with the Nuix knowledge graph and can generate queries automatically, reducing the need for users to write graph queries manually.

The company said the framework connects a customer’s chosen supported large language model to the Nuix Neo data processing and intelligence layer, and that outputs are designed to be verified against underlying source material.
