Patero, Orilla launch secure edge-to-enterprise platform for industrial AI and quantum-resistant communications

Patero, a provider of post-quantum encryption and secure communications technologies, and Orilla, an edge-native software company focused on industrial AI and DataOps, announced a partnership to deliver a secure and scalable edge-to-enterprise platform for industrial operations. The companies said the collaboration combines industrial AI capabilities with post-quantum cybersecurity in an ‘edge-to-anything’ architecture designed for connected industrial environments.

The combined solution enables organizations to deploy and manage AI at the industrial edge, where data is created, and decisions matter most, ensuring that every data path is protected against both current cyber threats and future quantum-enabled attacks. The combined solution illustrates a critical inflection point for industrial infrastructure. Industrial operators are rapidly deploying AI across distributed environments—oil fields, factories, ports, utilities, and remote infrastructure. However, this transformation is outpacing security.

At the same time, global policy and defense directives are accelerating the push toward quantum-resistant security. U.S. Department of Defense leadership has directed organizations to immediately begin cryptographic inventory assessments and migration planning across all systems, including OT, IoT, and mission-critical infrastructure.

Telecommunications and critical infrastructure sectors are also being urged to begin post-quantum migration efforts now because of growing concerns around risks to networks, connected devices, and long-lived sensitive data. Researchers and policymakers have further warned about ‘harvest now, decrypt later’ attacks, in which adversaries collect encrypted industrial and operational data today with the intention of decrypting it once quantum computing capabilities mature.

The gap is becoming increasingly clear: AI workloads are moving to the edge faster than trust, security, and cryptographic resilience frameworks are evolving to protect them. Patero and Orilla said their partnership is intended to address that challenge by integrating secure edge-to-edge workflows for machine-to-machine and site-to-site communications, secure edge-to-cloud pipelines supporting analytics, AI training, and enterprise systems, and secure remote operations for contractors, operators, and command centers.

The partnership represents a strategic effort to establish what the companies describe as a new category focused on quantum-safe industrial AI infrastructure. Under the approach, customers can deploy AI capabilities while limiting additional attack surface exposure, protect long-lived operational data against future quantum decryption risks, and replace legacy VPNs with secure session-based quantum tunnels.

The companies said the platform is designed to support crypto-agility aligned with evolving global standards while simplifying edge-native infrastructure to help organizations accelerate operational and AI-driven outcomes.

Peter Bentley, Patero’s COO, stated, “Industrial infrastructure is becoming intelligent, but without quantum-safe security, it also becomes vulnerable. This partnership ensures that AI-driven operations are not only powerful but also trusted for decades.”

The convergence of AI, connectivity, and quantum-related risk is reshaping industrial cybersecurity priorities. Industrial systems often operate on lifecycles spanning 15 to 30 years, necessitating long-term data protection strategies that remain effective for decades. At the same time, advances in quantum computing are expected to eventually undermine many current encryption methods within those operational lifecycle windows.

Governments and regulators are also shifting from awareness campaigns toward mandated action, increasing pressure on organizations to begin planning and implementing post-quantum security strategies across critical infrastructure and industrial environments.

Organizations that act now will define the next generation of secure, intelligent infrastructure.

“AI belongs at the edge. By integrating Patero’s quantum-safe security, we are removing the biggest barrier to industrial AI adoption—trust in the data, the infrastructure, and the outcomes,” asserted Lindi Sabloff, CEO at Orilla.ai.

The joint Patero and Orilla solution is immediately available for pilot deployments that can be completed within 30 to 90 days, as well as for OEM and integration partnerships. The companies said the platform is also being positioned for critical infrastructure and government programs.
