Pentest People, the Penetration Testing as a Service (PTaaS®) and cybersecurity experts, today announces it is the first Leeds-based cybersecurity company to become a qualified and approved Cyber Advisor (Cyber Essentials) on the NCSC’s Cyber Advisor scheme. Developed in partnership with IASME, the scheme simplifies the process for organisations embarking on their cybersecurity journey, ensuring they can readily access the expertise and guidance provided by certified professionals.
Introduced at CyberUK in Belfast last year, the Cyber Advisor scheme is designed for small and medium-sized organisations throughout the UK seeking to enhance their cybersecurity defences and mitigate the disruptions associated with prevalent cyber threats. Cyber Advisors will prioritise assisting organisations in implementing the five Cyber Essentials Technical Controls, the NCSC’s adopted standard that serves as a strong baseline to help defend against the most common cyber threats, including ransomware attacks.
Pentest People’s Cyber Advisor (Cyber Essentials) status provides organisations with the assurance they are partnering with a service provider capable of delivering cybersecurity guidance up to the NCSC approved standard, having successfully completed an independent assessment. These measures include:
- Knowledge and understanding of the Cyber Essentials’ technical controls.
- Competence in providing practical, hands-on support.
- Ability to understand and work with small and medium sized organisations.
As an accredited Cyber Advisor, Pentest People is required to meet the NCSC’s rigorous standards and be accepted as an Assured Service Provider.
“Small and medium-sized companies often face a dual challenge, the absence of in-house expertise coupled with limited access to qualified professionals to help with their cybersecurity. Constrained by both time and funds, these organisations, whether businesses, schools, or charities, find it hard to understand where to allocate their available resources effectively,” comments Elly Beal, Cyber Essentials Assessor, Pentest People.
“Every one of our Cyber Advisors (Cyber Essentials) has excelled in the Certificate of Competence in Cyber Essentials Implementation independent assessment. They’re able to offer their expertise and understanding of Technical Controls to provide practical, hands-on IT configuration and support to ensure organisations can effectively secure their business operations.”
