Sonic, the leading gaming SVM on Solana, and Injective, a WASM-based L1 network, today announced that they will team up to create the first cross-chain AI Agent platform, integrating the Solana and Injective ecosystems through an innovative Smart Agent Hub.
The collaboration leverages Sonic’s HyperGrid technology to establish a dedicated Solana Virtual Machine (SVM) grid, providing an innovative framework for intuitive cross-chain connectivity between Solana and Injective. The AI Agents built on the SVM will seamlessly integrate into the Injective ecosystem through the Inter-Blockchain Communication Protocol (IBC).
Both teams will work together on developing key technical innovations that enable Smart Agent Hub – a few focus verticals which include:
The Smart Agent Hub is designed to provide robust tooling and frameworks that empower developers to create, manage, and monetize AI agents in a decentralized ecosystem. By enabling agent tokenization and co-ownership, it opens new economic opportunities through fractional ownership and revenue sharing. Distribution mechanisms and platforms will be provided to increase reach and raise awareness of AI agents – utilizing apps like Sonic X, a TikTok Applayer developed by the Sonic team. The hub also is set to support on-chain agent capabilities, to enable the training and monetization of agents across Web3 games, DeFi applications, asset tokenization and more.
“This industry needs infrastructure that breaks down chain-specific barriers,” said Eric Chen, CEO of Injective Labs. “Our joint effort with Sonic creates a foundation for developers to build applications that leverage the best of both Solana and Injective ecosystems. Together, we’re laying the groundwork for what we believe will be one of the most significant AI-driven innovations in all of Web3.”
Chris Zhu, CEO of Sonic, added: “This collaboration represents a significant milestone in cross-chain infrastructure. By combining Sonic’s HyperGrid technology with Injective’s powerful WASM-based blockchain, we are creating unprecedented opportunities for developers to build applications that seamlessly operate across ecosystems. AI agent frameworks are just the beginning.”
Solana has seen exponential growth in trading volume and user activity, enabled by the likes of pump.fun – which lowers the barrier for creation and experimentation. The demand for similar tooling around AI agents has been verified as well, by Virtuals Protocol on Base. Both protocols are seeing a fair share of success, with Pump.fun generating over $200 million in revenue, and Virtuals Protocol seeing over $1B in trading volume.
The market cap of the AI Agent vertical, including $VIRTUAL itself, sits at $8.8B at the time of writing, according to CoinGecko. DeFi market cap is at $135B in aggregate. DePIN is at $45B, NFT tokens at $42B, and gaming is at $32B. The team believes that the AI agent vertical will rise to rival each of these, and perhaps even beyond – and aims for their Smart Agent Hub to be the center of activity on Solana.
The integration will roll out in phases over the coming months, with initial testnet deployment expected in Q1 2025. Both teams will work together on onboarding a variety of sectors onto the Smart Agent Hub – such as gaming, entertainment, DeFi and social platforms like TikTok and Web3 games. Developers interested in building cross-chain applications can follow for updates at sonic.game and injective.com
Sonic is the first SVM chain to launch on Solana, for games and applications. It is powered by Sonic HyperGrid, a framework for orchestrating optimistic Solana rollups. Sonic is the home of SonicX, the industry’s first Web3 TikTok App Layer – designed to onboard the next billion users.
Injective is a lightning-fast interoperable layer one blockchain optimized for building the premier Web3 finance applications. Injective provides developers with powerful plug-and-play modules for creating unmatched dApps. INJ is the native asset that powers Injective and its rapidly growing ecosystem. Injective is incubated by Binance and is backed by prominent investors such as Jump Crypto, Pantera and Mark Cuban.
