St Vincent’s Health seeks CTO to lead ‘technological transformation’ – Strategy

St Vincent’s Health Australia (SVHA) is seeking a chief technology officer to lead its “technology roadmap and investment plan”.

Michelle Fitzgerald (SVHA)

The newly created role will sit in SVHA’s Digital & Technology (D&T) division and report to group chief digital officer Michelle Fitzgerald.

Fitzgerald, who joined SVHA from City of Melbourne in 2022, told iTnews that the Sydney-based role is “important to the future of St Vincent’s in delivering better and fairer care for our patients and aged care residents”.

“[The CTO] will be responsible for leading the technological transformation of St Vincent’s national healthcare service organisation, encompassing hospitals, aged care, virtual care and research functions,” she said.

SVHA is Australia’s largest not-for-profit health and aged care provider, operating three public hospitals, 10 private hospitals and 23 aged care facilities, along with five co-located research institutes.

According to the provider’s job advertisement, the chosen candidate will oversee SVHA’s core IT infrastructure, including networks, telephony and end-user computing.

They will be tasked with developing and rolling out a “comprehensive technology roadmap that drives modernisation, operational excellence and improved patient and resident care delivery”.

Lastly, they will be responsible for “best practice and customer-centric service delivery, including the introduction of new tools and processes”.

Fitzgerald was named health technology leader of the year at the 2024 iTnews Benchmark Awards.
