Tor Browser 14.5.2 Released With Bug Fixes & New Capabilities

The Tor Project has announced the release of Tor Browser 14.5.2, available since May 18, 2025. This latest version delivers important security updates to Firefox and addresses several bugs, continuing the organization’s commitment to providing robust privacy protection for users worldwide.

Tor Browser 14.5.2 builds upon its predecessor, 14.5.1, with significant security improvements, primarily focusing on updates to the underlying Firefox foundation. 

The release includes the Firefox 128.10.1esr version for Windows, macOS, and Linux platforms, while Android users benefit from updated GeckoView 128.10.1esr integration.

“This release includes critical security improvements that help maintain the strong privacy protections Tor Browser is known for,” states the official release announcement on the Tor Project blog.

Tor Browser 14.5.2: Key Fixes and Improvements

Among the notable fixes, the development team addressed Bug tor-browser#43397, which ensures that “Click to play” functionality now properly overrides the capability blocking rules between top documents and subdocuments. 

This technical enhancement improves the browser’s ability to control potentially privacy-compromising content while maintaining usability.

Another significant improvement tackles Bug tor-browser#43635, resolving “console noise” issues caused by non-localized x-load capability warnings. 

For Linux users, Bug tor-browser#43738 backports Bugzilla 1947157, resulting in improved security warning content presentation.

The release also includes build system enhancements with four specific bug fixes, including the disabling of telemetry through Bug tor-browser#43777 (“Disable ./mach telemetry”), reinforcing the Tor Project’s dedication to user privacy. 

Additionally, update response handling sees improvements with fixes for XML file prefixes and .htaccess configurations.

The Go programming language update to version 1.23.9 will benefit Android, Windows, and Linux users, ensuring better stability and performance across these platforms.

For organizational deployments, the Tor Project added developer Brízental to the list of authorized signers for Tor Browser and Mullvad Browser tags (Bug tor-browser-build#41460), enhancing the project’s development capabilities.
