VicRoads Registration and Licensing Services has made Crispin Blackall its permanent chief technology officer, after three months in an interim role.
Blackall announced his appointment in a LinkedIn post, noting that when he joined VicRoads in July, he “didn’t realise that this was going to be much more than a short executive assignment.”
“Three months have passed incredibly quickly and at the beginning of October I was appointed to the permanent role of chief technology officer,” Blackall wrote.
VicRoads has been part-privatised by the Victorian state government, with a private consortium operating the registration and licensing and custom plates businesses of VicRoads for 40 years.
It appointed Dale Andrea as its chief information officer back in 2022. Andrea left in April and has since taken a role at NCS Group Australia.
iTnews confirmed that the pre-eminent IT role at VicRoads has switched from CIO to CTO, with Blackall named the organisation’s CTO.
Blackall is a former executive general manager of digital at NBN Co, where he was also once the network operator’s interim CIO.
He previously spent almost 22 years at Telstra, including roles such as BigPond’s CTO and as the executive in charge of domain engineering.
