WA Education boosts cyber function – Training & Development – Security


Western Australia’s Department of Education has increased its IT security resourcing with the appointment of Prashant Singh as manager of cyber security.



Reporting to CIO David Dans, Singh will bring his “extensive expertise in ICT” as well as a “strong focus on innovation in cyber security operations, governance and risk management” to the department.

Singh has previously acted as CISO for WA Police and spent over a decade at Main Roads Western Australia.

“Prashant has collaborated with numerous organisations to successfully deliver multi-million-dollar programmes, digital transformation, and innovation initiatives,” Dans told iTnews.

“His interests in technology include internet of things), big data, AI, cyber security, cloud computing, blockchain, and other related issues such as ethics and digital inclusion.”

Writing about his appointment on LinkedIn, Singh said he would now aim to “ensure the department’s digital landscape is cyber-secure, resilient and equipped to face emerging cyber threats.”

“I feel honoured to lead a cyber team dedicated to protecting the cyber space and sensitive information of students, educators and staff across WA,” he said.

“I am looking forward to collaborating with my stakeholders, developing proactive strategies, and implementing cutting-edge solutions to safeguard our educational community.” 

Overall cyber security leadership at the WA Department of Education falls to the Deputy Director General, Education Business Services, Jay Peckitt.
