Apple Inc is gearing up to introduce its own password management application at the upcoming Worldwide Developer Conference, aiming to tackle user frustrations with passwords. While other tech companies are exploring passwordless technologies like passkeys for more secure login methods, Apple is set to unveil its dedicated password manager.
While there’s been no official confirmation from Apple’s spokesperson, sources suggest that the app will streamline website and device logins and also serve as an authentication tool.
Amidst growing interest in passkeys among tech enthusiasts, it’s unclear why Apple is doubling down on password technology enhancements with the inclusion of a dedicated password manager in its upcoming iOS 18 version.
The Apple Password management service will seamlessly integrate with iCloud Keychain and will support compatibility with other password managers like Dashlane, LastPass, and 1Password.
Apple asserts that its manager will simplify password management by generating secure passwords accessible across all devices, eliminating the need to remember complex passwords, and reducing the risk of security breaches through password reuse.
Additionally, the manager will facilitate password sharing with authorized users, provide unlimited password storage, flag websites recently breached, and issue security alerts for reused passwords.
