Dispel, Tenable integrate OT asset intelligence with zero-trust remote access controls to boost industrial cybersecurity

Dispel announced an integration with exposure management company Tenable Holdings that combines Tenable One OT Exposure with the Dispel Zero Trust Engine, the OT secure remote access platform. This integration extends Tenable’s real-time OT/IoT asset intelligence directly into every Dispel remote access decision.

Most OT security programs answer to three teams with competing goals: security wants tight controls, operations wants production moving, and GRC needs to prove it all works. As remote access scales across plants, sites, and vendors, every safe access decision rests on one foundation: a current, accurate picture of every asset and who accesses what and when. Without that foundation, security and operations end up working from two different pictures of risk, which is exactly the gap this integration is built to close.

“Security teams need visibility into asset risk and vulnerability exposure. Operations teams need speed and uptime on the plant floor. Both are legitimate, and today they too often work from separate pictures of the same risk,” said Ben Burke, president and COO of Dispel. “This integration with Tenable puts both pictures in front of the person who has to make the call, at the exact moment they have to make it.”

Industrial operations depend on fast, reliable access to critical systems. Legacy VPNs, jump hosts, and fragmented tools introduce delays and manual vendor workflows that slow down the OEMs, contractors, and operators who need to reach mission-critical assets, compounding operational drag across every site and incident.

This integration solves that at the source: Tenable One OT Exposure’s real-time OT/IoT asset visibility, spanning each asset’s characteristics, configuration, behavior, and vulnerability profile, syncs automatically into the Dispel Zero Trust Engine, so access policies always reflect the real state of the environment, with no manual reconciliation. The result is faster onboarding and quicker approvals when most needed.

Dispel’s Session Forensics continuously evaluates every session from login through disconnect, tracking authentication strength and behavioral baseline to surface shared-credential and vendor-sprawl patterns a standard access log cannot see. Dispel correlates that session data with Tenable’s device risk and vulnerability profile, so both scores resolve into one traffic-light color of green, yellow, or red. A green user connecting to a green device gets a standard approval. A green user connecting to a red device may call for over-the-shoulder monitoring or a locked-down connection type. A red session against a red device calls for enhanced security. The result is one clear signal that gives the operator a single decision at production speed.

“Tenable closes the cybersecurity gaps across critical infrastructure that erode business value, reputation, and trust for organizations,” said Ray Komar, Vice President of Cloud and Technology Alliances, Tenable. “Partnering with Dispel extends that mission into the moment an access decision is made, giving our shared industrial customers a way to act on exposure before it becomes a risk, not after the fact.”

The integration also gives GRC teams a real-time, audit-ready record of secure remote access itself.

When Tenable flags a critical vulnerability, security and operations agree on a remediation plan; a vendor technician requests access to patch it; an administrator approves a just-in-time window with session justification; and the technician connects through a recorded, disposable session scoped to exactly what the work requires. Dispel Compliance automatically documents that access in real time, exporting audit-ready evidence across frameworks including NERC CIP, NIST, IEC 62443, and EU NIS2, without the manual hunt GRC teams currently spend $700,000 to $1.2 million a year assembling (Dispel research, 2026). Once the fix is applied, Tenable confirms the vulnerability closed on its own platform, completing the picture.

The integration is currently available within the Dispel Zero Trust Engine for joint customers, supporting Tenable’s cloud, on-premises, and hybrid deployment models. There is no gap in device mapping regardless of where a customer is in their OT journey.
