HackerOne and Zoom Select EverythingALS as the Latest Charity For #Hackforgood

“Supporting a cure for ALS is important to Zoom both from a social responsibility standpoint and in terms of its impact on employee engagement, brand reputation, talent acquisition, and personal connections within the organization.”
— Roy Davis, Security Manager, Zoom

For Davis, raising awareness for the disease is close to his heart. The Security Manager at Zoom, who runs the organization’s world-class Bug Bounty Program, was diagnosed with ALS in July, 2023. Since that time, he has slowly lost his ability to speak — now using a text-to-speech tool — and is also losing his ability to chew and swallow food.

What Is Hack For Good?

Hack For Good is an opportunity for security researchers to donate all or a portion of their bug bounties to a designated charity organization. During the month of May, bug bounty hunters can opt to donate a portion of their bounties to EverythingALS to support the care and cure for those affected by ALS.

“I think the broad reach of an organization like HackerOne, paired with my connection to the ALS community, makes for a great collaboration with which to generate interest.”
— Roy Davis, Security Manager, Zoom

What Is EverythingALS?

EverythingALS is a “patient-focused non-profit bringing technological innovations and data science to support efforts, from care to cure, for people with ALS.” The organization aims to enhance the conversation and care around ALS by offering an open-data platform for direct engagement with patients, caregivers, researchers, and drug companies.
