Haryana Cybersecurity Awareness Month Campaign Launched


In a bid to educate and safeguard residents against the rising trends in cybercrime, the Haryana Police has designated this October for Haryana Cybersecurity Awareness Month campaign with the resonating theme, “Secure Our World”.

 This initiative seeks to empower individuals with knowledge and practices that foster a secure online environment. Since last October, the first Wednesday of each month has been celebrated as Cybersecurity Awareness Month campaign in Haryana, a testament to the Haryana Police’s commitment to raising awareness. 

This year’s focus aims to instill confidence and a sense of safety against cybercrime. There will be a concerted effort to engage crucial sections of society, including women and children, in this campaign.

Celebrating Haryana Cybersecurity Awareness Month Campaign

Haryana Police along with other police departments will be overseeing the Cybersecurity Awareness Month campaign in Haryana. International agencies such as CISA are also a crucial part of this year’s awareness program. 

“Secure Our World: 2023 and Beyond,” boasts as a ground-breaking initiative that impels individuals to fortify their online presence daily, emphasizing behavioral shifts in households and small to medium-sized businesses.

With a focus on four pivotal actions, it redefines how users can protect themselves in the line world. “Secure Our World” stands as the forward-looking anthem for all future Cybersecurity Awareness Month campaigns.

Taking personal responsibility for Haryana Cyber Awareness Campaign and its success, the Haryana Police has conducted meetings with Cyber Nodal Officers from all districts of Haryana. 

It provided a detailed outline of the program and emphasized the need for comprehensive cyber awareness outreach. 

Each Wednesday in October will be dedicated to addressing different facets of cybersecurity. The State Nodal Agency, i.e., the State Crime Branch, has dispatched a framework to districts for effective implementation. 

For instance, the first week of October will focus on “Strong Passwords and Multi-factor Authentication”, showcasing the importance of robust passwords and multi-factor authentication not just for social media but also for bank accounts.

The Haryana Police envisions a month filled with insightful sessions, practical demonstrations, real-world anecdotes, and expert insights to equip individuals and businesses with the tools to navigate through cybercrime. 

The schedule for Haryana Cybersecurity Awareness Month campaign is thoughtfully structured:

  • Week 1 (October 1-7): Introduction to Cybersecurity Awareness, highlighting the significance of strong passwords and password managers.
  • Week 2 (October 8-14): Online Threats Week, unraveling the mysteries of malware, phishing, and other online threats, along with discussions on VPNs and Two-Factor Authentication.
  • Week 3 (October 15-21): Personal and Home Security, covering vital topics like GDPR, child online safety, and securing smart home devices.
  • Week 4 (October 22-28): Business and Work Security, delving into best practices at work, insider threats, secure file sharing, and secure remote work practices.
  • Wrapping Up (October 29-31): Looking to the Future, with a glimpse into emerging cyber threats and the role of AI in cybersecurity.

The Haryana Cyber Awareness Campaign will be led by cyber police stations across the state, offering interactive sessions, practical demos, and real-world stories to make cybersecurity awareness accessible and actionable for everyone.
